Places to Visit in Lebanon in Winter

Finally, summertime is over and it’s winter. Lebanon is one of the most interesting destinations to visit in winter, where you can enjoy the European weather in an Arab country. 

The winter season in Lebanon is magical! The ice covers the mountains which means you get to enjoy a breathtaking view. If you’re already in Lebanon or you’re planning to spend your winter vacation there, here are some places to visit in Lebanon in winter where you can enjoy your time:

1. Byblos

It is an ancient city that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, known for its harbor, open-air cafes, and seafood restaurants. You can enjoy a yacht cruise in the winter weather with some friends for a change. 

It also has many touristic places, for example, the L-shaped Temple, the Temple of the Obelisks, and Byblos Historic Quarter. Touring these places in winter is always a good choice instead of in summer, so you don’t get bothered by the hot sun.

Riding the Teleferique

Riding the Teleferique is one of the best things to do in winter at Jounieh. You will enjoy the winter’s breeze and the beautiful view of the sky without the hot sunlight. 

While riding the Teleferique, you will see the charming view of Lebanon’s nature from above and enjoy Lebanon’s winter weather.

Wandering the Old Souk

What is better than shopping in winter away from the hot sun? The Old Souk of Jounieh is near the seaside of Jounieh. It has a number of boutiques, artisan shops, and galleries. You can go shopping or for a walk among its old streets enjoying its historic vibes.


It’s located in Jounieh city, 15 km away from Beirut.

3. Al-Bustan International Festival of Music and Performing Arts

It’s one of the most significant and most awaited musical events. It is an annual event that includes a great number of musicians and bands. Sixteen live performances will take place. It is one of the most interesting events in Lebanon in winter; you shouldn’t miss this one!

4. Gibran Museum

If you are a literature lover, then Gibran Museum will be an interesting place for you. Gibran is a Lebanese-American writer, poet, and visual artist. 

The museum includes the contents of Gibran’s studio in New York, such as a private library, furniture, personal belongings, manuscripts, and a collection of over 400 original paintings. You can go there and have a tour at the museum and enjoy the artistic and historic vibes there. The sight is magical during the winter season.

5. Rachana

It’s a village that has been established by the Basbous brothers: Michel, Alfred, and Joseph. It is like an open-air museum for Basbous Sculpture. At Rachana, you will find sculptures everywhere, on the roads, in front of the houses, in the squares, and in gardens.  

In the winter weather, it’s a very beautiful place for walking among the sculptures and taking some photos. You can also go for outdoor picnics to enjoy the green areas by the river.

6. Uruguay Street – Downtown Beirut

If you’re a night person, even in the winter, then Uruguay Street is a good option for a winter night outing. It has a lot of cafes and restaurants where you can have your favorite meal or hot drink in the winter’s breeze as winter in Beirut is incredible!


It’s located in the heart of Downtown Beirut.
